Vera is a municipality in the Spanish province of Almería in the Andalusia region with 14,371 inhabitants.
The main town of the same name in the municipality is a village located 10 kilometers from the coast. The territory of the municipality extends to the coast; the spa that emerged there, called Vera Playa, now provides the main economic activity. There is a market on Saturdays and this is one of the largest markets in the region.
The village has a number of historic buildings, such as the town hall and the church Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (1521-1524), which was built as a fortress to protect the village against pirates.
