The municipality of Benijófar borders Rojales and with its 4.36 km² it is one of the smallest municipalities in the region. His name in Arabic, yauhar, means "son of the pearl".
The main activity of this village is agriculture and the emphasis is on the cultivation of fruits and vegetables that daily supply the market of all the towns and villages of the province of Alicante. In Benijófar too, tourism is playing an increasingly important role.
