Do you dream of a (second) home under the Spanish sun? A nice apartment by the sea, rather something in the mountains or a piso in the city? There are a hundred good reasons to move to Spain, but for this article we limited ourselves to 10. Bet it starts to itch right away?
1. The climate
Say goodbye to the endless winters in which you don't see daylight for months. In the Costa Calida & Costa Blanca South you can also be outside in the winter months. sun sunglasses on, lovely!

2. The gastronomy
Paella, fish, meat, good olive oil, the tastiest tomatoes… do we need to say more? In Spain you can eat well anywhere and anytime. A favorite are the daily menus (menú del día), so you can have lunch for next to nothing on weekdays. At the weekend people drink tapas for hours.
3. The language
Does the Spanish language also make you happy? How nice would it be to hear Spanish around you all day long? Precisely. Your life gets bigger if you understand even a little bit of it.
4. The high life expectancy
After Japan, Spain is the country where people live the oldest. Women live on average 85.6 and men 80.3 years old. We packed the bags years ago, are you next? This of course also has to do with the great climate. This differs per regions. The well-known micro-climate can be found in the Costa Calida.
5. Playa!
Spain has almost 5000 kilometers of coastline, so there is no shortage of beaches. Whether you prefer the Costa Calida or Costa Blanca, surfing or sun worshiping on the Mediterranean Sea: Spain offers it all! And the most beautiful beaches can be found in Puerto de Mazarrón and Aguilas. Spacious wide white clean beaches as nature intended.

6. Quiet villages
How about a little rest? You are in the right place in Spain for that too. The country has plenty of small villages where the days slowly pass by. The region of Murcia is full of these nice authentic villages; Mazarrón, Caravaca de la cruz (see photo), Jumilla, Aledo to name a few.
7. Vibrant Cities
Prefer the bustle of the city? In the two largest cities, Madrid and Barcelona, there is something to do at any time of the day (and night), but cities such as Murcia and Cartagena are also highly recommended for establishing yourself as a foreigner.

8. Siesta!
It is a myth that Spaniards all lie on one ear between two and five o'clock in the afternoon. But getting rid of a sandwich behind the desk in the Netherlands is really not done in Spain. The long break and extensive lunch really make life a bit more relaxed.
9. The outdoors
For Spaniards, young and old, and from all walks of life, it is very common to sit outside on a bench with a newspaper or can of drink, or to play a game of cards in the park. What now, loiterers?

10. The Spaniards themselves
Compared to the Dutch, the Spaniards are less rushed and usually much friendlier. And that is contagious. A quick errand at the bakery or a 'buenos días' on the street can easily turn into a pleasant conversation. Not always practical, but very good for de-stressing.
