These are our 5 favorite Spanish vegetarian tapas, which you can actually find everywhere in Spain. In the major cities of Spain you see more and more delicious vegetarian restaurants. But you can also spend a few days in the rest of the country with this list trying all the vegetarian tapas.
1. TORTILLA DE PATATA
This thick omelette with potato is a classic in Spanish cuisine and is perfect for varying with all kinds of vegetables and cheese. If you want to master the preparation well, you will have to practice a few times.
2. GAZPACHO
When you think of gazpacho, you naturally think of a blistering summer sun. But actually this is always delicious. And gazpacho is super easy to make yourself.
3. GARBANZOS Y ESPINACAS
In a little Spanish bar, garbanzos y espinacas (chickpeas and spinach) are on the menu. We love it: as a main course with a little bread, or as a side dish alongside potatoes or rice. This stew is the ultimate Spanish comfort food, especially in cold weather.
4. PATATAS BRAVAS
Patatas bravas, perhaps the all time favorite. These 'wild potatoes' are standard on the menu and are made with boiled, baked and fried potatoes.
5. CROQUE BAG
Large croquettes as we know them in the Netherlands, do not exist in Spain. If you order croquetas in a Spanish bar, you will get something that looks more like a portion of bitterballen. Usually you pay them per unidad (piece) and if you don't eat meat, you often have a wide choice: from cheese and from spinach to mushrooms.
